Adam Lallana is reportedly sidelined for Liverpool’s meeting with Southampton this weekend.
The attacking midfielder continued his stunning run of form during the international break, netting for England against both Scotland and Spain.
However, in the latter game, Lallana was forced off through a groin injury – a problem which immediately caused doubt ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture.
According to the Daily Mail, this issue is a recurrence of an injury suffered against Swansea City last month.
The report claims that Liverpool’s medical team delivered the diagnosis on Wednesday morning, with Lallana due to miss the clash against his former club.
Indeed, the 28-year-old is set to return to training next week, the source suggests – which could make him available for the Reds’ hosting of Sunderland.
Lallana has cemented his place in Jurgen Klopp’s XI this season, playing in all 11 Premier League games thus far.
Across those appearances, he has notched five assists – a tally bettered only by Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
