Liverpool have arrived in New Jersey for the second leg of their tour of the United States.
While there, the Reds will play perhaps the most important pre-season fixture ahead of the new season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side take on Manchester City on Wednesday (the game kicks off in the early hours of Thursday morning for their UK supporters), an opponent many are now considering to be a direct rival.
Man City are the favourites to win the 2018-19 Premier League title but Liverpool are right behind them.
That’s due to a successful transfer window.
Naby Keita, Fabinho, Alisson Becker and Xherdan Shaqiri have all arrived and the Reds now look ready to end their long wait for a major trophy.
Pep Guardiola hasn’t taken the strongest squad to the US – Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne are all absent – but Klopp will be looking for a win regardless.
ROBERTSON’S INSTAGRAM POST
Photos of Liverpool’s players having a kickabout at Charlotte Douglas International Airport emerged on Wednesday after it emerged that their flight to New Jersey was delayed.
James Milner, Adam Lallana, Andy Robertson and a few others managed to access some footballs and kept loose.

It was clearly a great way to pass the time. And Robertson’s latest Instagram post shows they had plenty of time to pass.
The left-back shared a photo of himself, Milner and Lallana in front of a plane. He had photoshopped Mohamed Salah to the plane’s wing.
“What else is there to do when your flight is delayed 🤷♂️ #mosalah #runningdownthewing,” Robertson joked.
Who knew that Robertson was handy with photoshop?
James Milner also posted on social media as he waited for take-off.
