Almost Done: Liverpool set to announce triple deal

Three Liverpool ‘youngsters’ (if you can still class Kevin Stewart in that category), are on the verge of signing long-term deals with the club.

According to the Echo, the midfielder, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn will pen lengthy contract extensions in the coming days.

Ovie Ejaria signed a four-year deal at the end of last season, so his future has already been tied to the club.

Alexander-Arnold made his debut for Liverpool this season at right-back and looks like someone who’ll develop into Nathaniel Clyne’s primary backup. At 18, the world’s at his feet and we wouldn’t be surprised if he eventually turned into a central midfielder, such is his ability on the ball and physicality.

Woodburn is not long 17, but suggested during this summer’s pre-season friendlies that he might have a huge career ahead of him. Jurgen Klopp hasn’t used him yet, but knows of his talents full well.

Stewart is an interesting one, for us. He’s 23 – older than Emre Can – but is very much a substitute. The Englishman’s at the age where he probably needs first-team football to progress, but he won’t get any of that bar an injury crisis. Still, if he’s ready to tie himself to the club for five more years, good luck to him.
