Jurgen Klopp’s final signing this summer might just be his most important.
Having already added Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shari to his Liverpool side, the German manager then moved to sign Alisson for a world-record fee for a goalkeeper at £70 million.
Liverpool’s desperate need for a new goalkeeper was evident after Loris Karius’ two terrible mistakes in the Champions League final. His howlers in pre-season friendlies against Tranmere and Borussia Dortmund may have sealed his fate.
But now, Brazil’s number one has arrived.
Alisson was given a break following his World Cup exertions but joined the Liverpool squad as they headed to France for their next stage of pre-season preparations.
And it didn’t take long for fans to get excited after seeing him in training.
Liverpool’s official Twitter account certainly got supporters buzzing after sharing a video of one of Alisson’s save.
In a small-sided match, James Milner picked out Shaqiri with a pass.
Shaqiri volleyed the ball across goal, leaving Marko Gruijic with the simple chance to just tap the ball in.
But the former Roma goalkeeper flung himself at the ball and somehow tipped it over.
What a save.
