The agent of Rodrygo Goes has revealed that Liverpool made an offer to sign the Santos wonderkid.
Rodrygo, 17, who made his first-team debut for Santos back in November, is being tipped for stardom following an impressive string of performances for the Brazilian outfit.
The teenage forward has scored nine goals in 31 appearances and his displays have caught the attention of several elite European clubs.
Rodrygo’s agent, Nick Acuri, confirmed bids from Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain, but revealed that the striker is set to join Real Madrid. ‘We had offers from Liverpool, PSG and Barcelona, but they did not reach what Santos asked for,’ Acuri told Esporte Interativo.
‘Fifteen days ago, Madrid approached me, they met with the president and made their proposal, reaching the value that Santos always wanted. ‘Last week, the player did his medical with Madrid and then Santos gave the green light. The agreement is that he stays [at Santos] until June 30, 2019.’
It’s understood Madrid have agreed to pay £35million for 80 per cent of Rodrygo’s rights. Rodrygo is set to become one of football’s highest-paid teenagers, with a £75,000-a-week deal on the table for the attacker.
