If there’s one thing recent events have taught us at Liverpool is that we could do with at least one more option up top in the squad.
In the last few weeks we’ve seen Philippe Coutinho go off on a stretcher, Roberto Firmino limp out of action and Daniel Sturridge rediscover his poor injury record to leave us suddenly short going forward.
Danny Ings had already been ruled out for some time before that, too, and so now Jurgen Klopp must be assessing his alternatives.
Whilst Divock Origi is a suitable enough back up option past that we’re looking at getting some of the kids involved and in a title race, that simply isn’t good enough.
It wouldn’t be a surprise, then, to see our manager aim to get some more attacking talent on the books in January and we reckon at least one of these three would be a more than ideal route to go down…
Berardi is a talented forward that can play through the middle or down that right and that might make him of serious interest to Klopp. The Italian has the potential to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world and it probably won’t be too long until he leaves current club Sassuolo. He’s seen as a big part of the Italian national team’s future, too, and the Reds should genuinely consider the role he could have in our next few seasons.
Dembele is showing himself to be the real deal right now at Celtic. After a promising season last year in the Championship he made the move to the Scottish giants and has gone about demonstrating his huge potential against the likes of Rangers and Manchester City in the Champions League. He doesn’t look fussed but huge occasions and that kind of mentality under Klopp could provide for fantastic results.
Liverpool have a distinct Brazilian connection up top at the moment and it’s certainly paying off right now. Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho’s understanding is completely telepathic at times as they go about taking opposing defences apart so surely they’d be able to work with one of the newest Brazilian stars, Luan. The Gremio man has six goals in eleven appearances for his country and could be the next big thing.
