3 Simon Mignolet replacements the Reds should have signed in January

Simon Mignolet once again covered himself in no glory this weekend as he made yet another mistake in the game against Hull City.

The Belgian has made so many errors in his Reds career it’s impossible to know how many and for a club that is aiming to be in the top four this season, he simply isn’t good enough.

Indeed, he’s only in the side because Loris Karius has failed to prove himself so far and so things are once again looking dire between the sticks for the Reds.

It’s another damning result of a poor January in the transfer market where we really should have acted to help preserve our top four chances and even our title hopes at the turn of the year.

So, with that in mind, here’s three ‘keepers the Reds should have signed last month – maybe summer will help…

FRASER FORSTER

It may seem like a pretty unoriginal idea to go after a Southampton player when we need someone but Forster would not be a bad option at all.

He’s a strong and commanding presence at the back and, as he proved at Anfield last month, when he does make a mistake he can save it from disaster brilliantly. He’s got all the attributes to suggest he could handle being our number 1 between the posts.
