Jurgen Klopp took a while to settle into Merseyside, but his slow start has now been forgotten after a stellar start to the 2016/17 campaign.
With 5 wins from 7, Liverpool currently sit in 4th place in the Premier League – and they look good value for a Premier League title challenge this season.
As with any squad however, there are a couple of holes in the Liverpool squad that need filling in the long-term – and Klopp needs to begin that preparation immediately.
The German now faces 2 weeks without a Premier League game, and our landlord thinks he could use that time to scout some potential January targets ahead of a new-year move.
With that said, here are THREE potential January signings Klopp must watch in the international break…
Jonas Hector was reportedly a priority target for Liverpool over the summer, but a move never came to pass.
However, the need for a new left-back has become even more clear this year, with Alberto Moreno suffering a number of crucial mistakes earlier on in the season – with his spot in the team now taken up by out-of-position midfielders.
Hector represents a good value, long-term option for Liverpool’s left back woes, and Jurgen Klopp could use the international break to sound out whether he would be a good solution.
The club were evidently unsuccessful in a move over the summer, but everything could have changed in January.
They won’t be able to compete playing James Milner on the left-hand side.
Axel Witsel has seemingly been on the radar of every club in the Premier League over the last year.
The Belgian has proven his quality in Russia whilst with Zenit, and has been long touted for a Premier League move by our landlord.
This January could be the time that it happens, and Jurgen Klopp should look to pounce.
Liverpool have looked shakey in midfield as of late, and could certainly do with further reinforcements behind the likes of Jordan Henderson.
Witsel is a top quality level ball winning midfield player that is also more than capable of pulling of a delicate long-range pass – and that could prove vital for Liverpool ahead of a title challenge.
Christian Pulisic has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks, and the international break could give Jurgen Klopp a perfect opportunity to get some eyes on the talented American youngster.
Pulisic has recently broken into the USMNT, and also scored his first goal for Borussia Dortmund earlier this season – signalling that he is a player on the rise.
Pulisic was signed at Dortmund when Klopp was in charge, which may signal why the German has been keen to bring Pulicic to Liverpool.
Certainly a long-term prospect; but what a prospect!
