26-yr-old striker: I have always liked Arsenal – I would “never” sign for Liverpool

Mario Balotelli has revealed that he would never go back to former club Liverpool – but he still likes Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.

The Italian striker scored just four goals for the Reds after joining from AC Milan for £16 million in August 2014.

But although he endured a poor spell on the pitch which would put him off a future move although he says the players and the fans were amazing.

Balotelli has re-found form with French club Nice this season, but he hinted that if he were to come back to the Premier League former team Manchester City and Arsenal would be possibilities.

Speaking to China’s Xinhua news agency, the Italian said: ‘[If I go back to England] for sure not Liverpool.

“Because I found myself [performing] very bad in Liverpool. I said the team was good and the fans are amazing, but I would never go back to Liverpool.

“The first one I think in England is Manchester City, and the second team I always like is Arsenal. That doesn’t mean I’ll go to play there. I just like them.”

Balotelli went into decline after joining Liverpool, with just one Premier League goal and four goals overall in 28 appearances for the club over a two-year stint.

After a poor 2014/15 season he was sent on loan to Milan for the following campaign and after struggling back in Italy too, he joined Nice in the summer transfer window.

Despite playing just five times in the league this season he has scored six goals to help Nice reach the top of the Ligue 1 table.

Still only 26 and enjoying his football once more it is unlikely Balotelli would return to the Premier League any time soon, but his comments will pique the interest of managers in England.
