The Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Kevin Wimmer would be an excellent addition to the Liverpool squad.
Reds boss Jürgen Klopp will surely be looking to bolster his defensive options at Anfield this summer, especially with Mamadou Sakho’s future at the club becoming increasingly more uncertain with every day that passes.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace, with Goal.com reporting that personal terms have already been agreed between player and club.
If the 27-year-old does end up leaving Liverpool, for the £30 million being touted according to the Mirror, Klopp will have to sign a replacement, and preferably a left footed one.
With this in mind, the Merseyside outfit should consider a move for Spurs centre-back Kevin Wimmer, who is available for £20 million, according to the Mirror.
The 24-year-old Austrian is highly talented, and would be a fantastic addition to the Liverpool squad. He has never really been given the chance to shine at Tottenham, but with the opportunity of regular game-time under Klopp at Anfield, he could really come into his own.
Standing at 6ft 2in, Wimmer is strong in the air, and despite not being the quickest of defenders, his outstanding ability to read the game more than makes up for his lack of pace.
He would be the ideal parter for either Joel Matip or Dejan Lovren, and could equally line up next to the pair if Klopp chooses to play with three centre-backs.
At 24, the Spurs man has at least a decade ahead of him playing at the highest level, so the reported price-tag of £20 million seems to be completely reasonable in today’s day and age.
And if Klopp manages to bring him to Anfield, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Liverpool.
